Welcome to SysAdmins Zone
Thanks for checking out our community, blogs and news. We want everyone to enjoy the content on this website, so we have some rules we want everyone to read and follow.
Make Yourself Heard
Want to start a new topic? First, take a look around the website to see what content exists and familiarize yourself with the site. Also search to see if the topic already exists! We have a powerful search that should help you find anything if it already exists. If it's locked, go ahead and start a new one.
When you're ready to start a topic, please keep the following rules in mind:
- Give it a good title, you'll get the best results if the title is clear about what you want to talk about.
- Chose the right category, this will help ensure you get the right responses.
- Don't post about the same topic repeatedly, it's annoying, and we don't like it.
- English only, we can't have a conversation if we can't understand each other.
- No need to sign your post, that's what the signature and profile are for.
Please help us keep the site organized and tidy.
Make Your Replies Count
If you're taking the time to partake in a conversation, in the hope that others will read it and assist, or give their idea it's best to make your reply worth reading.
- Don't reply to a title, actually read the topic, and at least scan the conversation.
- Avoid one-word posts, the software won't let you, and it's annoying.
- Avoid multiple posts, if you forgot something edit your previous post.
- If your reply is going to derail the conversation, consider starting a new topic.
- Make your posts constructive and supportive. This is an inclusive community for everyone from beginners to experts.
Be Awesome and Cool
We're here to talk about technology, being a SysAdmin and in general just talk. Being awesome and cool ensures that everyone enjoys the site, and we like that. For that reason, here's some stuff we won't tolerate:
- Spam, phishing, or anything to deface the site
- Obfuscated links, link shorteners are a big no go, we hate them
- Discussions of software piracy or similar topics, we're professionals
- Doxing, it's not only a ban, but we'll help and/or contact law enforcement
- Impersonation, if you make an account with the same name as a respected IT professional, we'll ask for proof it's actually that person. If you can't provide the proof, we'll ask you to change your username.
- Harassment, defamation, offensive or abusive language
All the above are grounds for moderator action. If you have an issue with another member, we ask that you please don't confront them yourself. Please just report the post in question, then leave it up to the staff to deal with the situation.
Our moderators may edit or delete any content that is offensive or disruptive to the flow of communication. Serious or repeated offenses may lead to suspension of the offending user's account. And if the offense is serious enough, we'll help and/or contact law enforcement.
