We are using ChatGPT very little where I work, we use it a little to help write some scripts, but overall, the CEO has banned its use. And rightfully so given its security risks and the fact that what it writes isn't always accurate.
In fact, one of our customers had ChatGPT write an SQL script that ended up completely breaking their ERP system and it took our dev team 3 hours to sort out what it had done and reverse the scripts mess ups.
We’re similar, at present ChatGPT is very minimally used at work. We’re also investigating implications with using it in legal (especially given recent issues with it being incorrect and causing a company to be sued for damages).
My boss very much likes the premise of ChatGPT and is considered a private instance in Azure for it though.
We do use it a little bit to sanity check scripts and generate small snippets but it is made VERY clear that you need to understand wtf it’s telling you / giving you. Because otherwise as you say it might cause issues that you then spend the rest of the day fixing.
